Integrating hand-embroidered Afghan patches

Pascale runs an embroidery project in Afghanistan, where women hand-embroider 8 cm long patches. These can be integrated in an authentic way with various patchwork techniques; the final product thus plays symbolic witness to a meeting of two cultures.

Pascale will present a wide range of options for integrating patches embroidered by Afghan women; the patches will be framed in all kinds of ways.

A sewing machine is indispensable.

At least 4 embroidered patches will be needed to try out the various techniques; these will then be offered for sale in the show (at an average price of €6 per patch).

Pascale Goldenberg, French artist and freelance teacher in contemporary patchwork techniques lives in Germany.
